When I started my business, I took work from anyone who would give it to me.
I took low paying, unfulfilling jobs out of fear because I just wanted to get clients so badly.
Then, one day, I realized that I could be working with clients that I LIKED, doing work that I LOVED.
I niched down, and the rest is history.
BUT ERIN, HOW DO I FIND MY NICHE?
How do I know who I wanna work with if I haven't worked yet!?
How do I decide what I want to offer if I am not an expert in anything yet?
First of all, take a deeeeep breath.. We will find you your niche.
Here’s what to do:
IDENTIFY YOUR PASSION.
What do you love doing? What are you good at? You’ll need to find something that you are passionate about because when you find something that you love and excel at, it makes it so much easier.
WHO IS YOUR DREAM CLIENT? WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?
You can niche down your ideal client (who you work with) OR your offering (what you do for someone). This will help you become so much more clear on how to market your services.
IS IT PROFITABLE?
Will your ideal client pay for your services? Are your services something that is needed? More than likely there are people out there that need exactly what you can offer! But it doesn’t hurt to make sure. Do some research and see if there are other Virtual Assistants out there offering what you want to specialize in.
SOLVE A PROBLEM.
Is what you’re doing solving a problem? Why would someone pay you to help them? Make sure that your services are offering a solution to a problem that your ideal client is going through.
DO YOUR MARKET RESEARCH!
Before you proceed, ask your audience! One of the best ways to do this is to go into Facebook groups and post a survey with questions that will help you gain valuable insight into your ideal client’s struggles. You could also throw up some polls on your Instagram stories asking what your audience might need help with or what information they want to see from you. Tap into your network and ask what people are needing help with. Before you know it, you will know exactly how to target your dream client.
Niching down does not have to be as scary as it seems.
